Urban Decay's Naked 3 Palette Vs. Lorac Pro

Background

It's been awhile and I'm back from my hiatus.  I've been so busy with work, and extra activities and projects, that I just haven't had the time to really sit down and write down some thoughts, although I have been purchasing and buying new beauty products so I thought I'd start with a review of the Naked 3 Palette and Lorac Pro Palette. I'm getting back into the saddle and will soon be posting up more beauty blogs and will be posting more jewelry creations that I've been working on.  With that said, let's begin! Urban Decay's Naked 3 Palette and the Lorac Pro palette. Both are eye shadow palettes.  Naked 3 is roughly about $52 and the Lorac Pro is about $42 on Ulta.com and Sephora.com.

I've been using both, I've had the Naked 3 palette for about a month or so and the Lorac Pro for about a week and a half. Below is a breakdown of my thoughts about each product.  Keep in mind, this is my experience using the products.  What works for me may not work for you..but at least you will get a better idea once you make your decision if you purchase one or the other.

Urban Decay's Naked 3

I was so excited once I first heard about this palette.  At first it was sold out online, but luckily my local Ulta store had them in stock when they had first released.  I love the packaging.  The tin packaging is very secure, and appealing..chic, and modern.  The rectangle mirror is fantastic in helping you while you work with the shadows.  The palette features 12 new shades ranging from pale, shimmery rose gold, to a shimmery black. I have a medium-skin tone with pink undertones, and the shades work fairly well for me.  You can pretty much create various looks, ranging from a natural chic look or take it for a more dramatic effect and pull a smokey eyed look.  The biggest con I had was the amount of flakes and fallout from the shadows.  It's disappointing and can get really annoying after awhile. The palette has good pigmentation, although some shades take a couple of applications to get the right shade depth as some colors are very sheer, or come off once I start blending.  The brush that comes with the palette is one of the best, and I find myself using it quite often with other shadows, so that is a plus.

Lorac Pro

I had been hearing so many great reviews about the Lorac Pro, and I must say, it took me awhile to even get the nerve to purchase it.  I guess it was more so because I had just bought the Naked 3 palette and didn't want to spend more money on another palette.  I finally made the decision to purchase it, and I am so glad I did.  The reviews I had heard were all true.  I LOVE the Lorac Pro.  I've been using it every day for the past week.  The colors are so pigmented, and have a creamy texture even though it is not a "cream" shadow.  It comes with 8 shimmery shadows, and 8 matte eye shadows.  The packaging isn't so great, quite plain.  There is a rectangle mirror that you can use while on the go.  The packaging does not secure so it makes one a little hesitant to take it on the go, for example in your purse...so you can't really take it with you for touch-ups throughout the day.  I absolutely love the matte shades.  They are great for adding depth on your eye crease, and serve as a great transition color once you start blending.  The colors are easily blendable, giving you a nice smokey effect if you are using the darker shades.  The shimmery shadows add just enough pigmentation to really give a nice effect on the eye lid.  It does not come with a brush applicator, unlike the Naked 3 palette..but if you ask me, the quality of shadows in the Lorac Pro make up for the lack of brush applicator.  I was very pleased.   Like the Naked 3, the Lorac Pro palette has so many colors, that the possibilities of color combinations you can create are endless.

So which one should I purchase?

Overall, I like both palettes..but if I had to choose one, I would pick the Lorac Pro before I would buy the Naked 3.  First reason being, the Lorac Pro is cheaper.  If you buy from Ulta.com, you can usually get a free Lorac sample.  I received a sample of Lorac Pro's eye shadow primer.  Second reason being that the shadows do not flake and is not messy.  I am more pleased with the color combinations I can create with the Lorac Pro.  I find that it blends easier than the Naked 3 shadows.  Third reason, you get more shadows with the Lorac Pro.  The Naked 3 palette, you only get 12 colors versus the 16 that you get with the Lorac Pro.  I find that I have all the shadows I need in the Lorac Pro.  But then again, I'm not the one to wear real bright colored shadows, so I find the Lorac Pro suits me better.  My style is "natural chic" or "classic" style.  I really like how I can use the Lorac Pro for any occasion.  I've been using it for my "work" make-up, and I've been using it on a daily basis.  You can create a simple look for everyday so easily.

I have plenty of shadows and palettes on hand.  I have palettes ranging from Em cosmetics, various palettes from Urban Decay, Victoria Secret, Nyx, BeautiControl, and various drug store palettes and I must say..the Lorac Pro is my "go-to" palette to use.  The Lorac Pro is a good investment, and in my opinion, every girl should have one.  It is definitely worth your money and you will not be disappointed.
